Mikayla, my 4 year old and I were talking when she said, “Mom, you could make a mis-steak for dinner!”
I guess that means we will have to dim the lights again for dinner tonight.
Last night we were playing with our dog, Missy. My 4 year old daughter asked me about our previous dog, Jasmine, who passed away about a year and a half ago. I always tell her Jasmine has gone to be with God.
She usually tells me, “We need to go and get her back from God.”
We were having the same discussion last night when Mikayla said, “We need a parachute so we can go get her back!”
That’s one of the best kiddisms I have heard in awhile!
Today I want to give some recognition to a woman I do not know personally, but who inspires me nonetheless. Mimi Doe, author of Spiritual Parenting Newsletter
gave me the idea for the subject matter of this blog. Here is an excerpt from her latest newsletter:
“Spring has arrived and with it new beginnings for us all. Dust away the cobwebs of any winter rut you might have dug and open to incredible delight and surprises. When you begin again – spiritually, emotionally, physically – you open the way for your dreams to manifest and you just experience more happiness.
It all starts with your thoughts. Today, choose to see the good in everything around you. When your busy, judgemental thoughts begin to negate any person or situation, immediately switch the “lazy thought habit” of criticism and find something positive to focus upon – the sound of birds singing, the way the sun slants into the room – the smell of fresh spring air – the vintage fedora perched atop the head of the person you were judging.
We have a choice in how we feel and our thoughts are ours to rein in. What you think is what you get! Wouldn’t you rather experience joy, light heartedness, and delight than judgment, criticism, and disappointment?”
I know I would personally do well to heed these words today, I am feeling rather stressed with the teenager being home for spring break this week! That might help explain my lack of blogging lately. Just trying to make it through the day with my sanity intact is more accurate.
